From February 10 to 15, 2020, I attended the Training of Trainers on Mangrove and Beach Forest Rehabilitation and Conservation conducted by the Zoological Society (ZSL) – Philippines. Extremely grateful to learn so many things from ZSL’s amazing resource persons. (photos from ZSL)
I was very fortunate to be chosen to participate in the first Train the Trainers Course on Science Diplomacy organized by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). The workshop was held on August 26-28, 2019 at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, Italy.
My next steps after the training are: (1) to organize a panel on science diplomacy under the second Asian regional workshop on youth participation in disaster risk reduction in December 2019; (2) to propose a Masters-level elective course on disaster-related science diplomacy to Sichuan University; (3) to conduct half-day or one-day introductory seminars on science diplomacy in the Philippines.
